North Korea's mission to the United Nations, speaking at Thursday's US-organized meeting on the Asian country's human rights situation, categorically rejected accusations against it, the United Nations said in a statement on Thursday.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — The DPRK diplomats argued that the United States had no right to raise the human rights issues of other countries as it is the world's "principal human rights violator" citing torture and other crimes by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

According to the DPRK mission, Washington should disclose the full version of its report on torture by the CIA at its detention centers and take measures to punish those responsible for the crimes.

In December 2014, the US Senate released a report that documented "enhanced interrogation techniques" used by the CIA on suspected terrorists. It found that the CIA had misled Congress and the public about the use of torture in its interrogation practices.

According to the Senate report, some of the interrogation methods that the CIA used on suspects after the September 11 bombings include waterboarding, mock executions, the threat of sexual abuse and threats against family.

In February 2014, the UN Commission of Inquiry released a report documenting wide-ranging crimes against humanity in North Korea, urging the international community to protect North Korean people from their government.
