Copenhagen synagogue peace ring organizer claims that both the Jewish population of Denmark and the police welcome the event.

MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov — Both the Jewish population of Denmark and the police welcome the Copenhagen synagogue peace ring, scheduled for Saturday, the event's organizer Niddal El-Jabri told Sputnik on Thursday.

On Saturday, hundreds of people are expected to form a ring of peace around a Jewish synagogue in the city of Copenhagen to show compassion for the victims of the February terror attacks that took place in the city.

Despite the fact that police initially denied El-Jabri's request to hold the event, El-Jabri told Sputnik that they were "definitely" sympathetic to the peace ring.

"It's not because they didn't want it to happen but it's simply because after the attack all the focus was on solving the crime and protecting the streets of Copenhagen," the organizer said.

As for the country's Jewish population, "their thankfulness towards the initiative is overwhelming."

Copenhagen saw two terror attacks in February, as an Islamist gunman opened fire at a free speech seminar and then at a synagogue, killing two civilians.
