The Islamic State has reportedly publicly beheaded three men in northern Iraq. Two of them were executed for practicing homosexual acts and the third one for alleged blasphemy, according to a series of photographs released on social media Tuesday.
However, the authenticity of the photos has not yet been officially verified. The images depict blindfolded men kneeled down on the ground and an executioner holding a long blade and standing next to them.
According to the captions attached to the photos, the victims were then executed. Allegedly, the photos were taken in Nineveh province of northern Iraq.
It should be noted that Iraqi troops backed by a US-led coalition are currently trying to retake Nineveh and its capital Mosul, the Islamic State's stronghold.
