Ferguson Protests: Event Timeline
MOSCOW, November 25 (Sputnik) – Missouri Governor Jay Nixon on Tuesday called in more national guardsmen to Ferguson amid widespread unrest in the city.

The National Guard will provide security at the Ferguson Police Department, which will allow additional law enforcement officers to protect the public, the governor's office announced in a statement, according to ABC News.

Major protests erupted in the US town of Ferguson, Missouri, late Monday over the St. Louis grand jury's ruling on Monday not to indict Darren Wilson, a white police officer, who fatally shot Michael Brown, an unarmed African-American teenager, in August. Protesters set buildings ablaze and looted stores in the city.

Brown's shooting triggered massive protests against police brutality in Ferguson and around the country, followed by violent clashes between protesters and police officers in Ferguson in August, leading Nixon to declare a state of emergency, while the Federal Aviation Administration implemented a no-fly zone.
