MOSCOW, November 24 (Sputnik) — Mayor of Seoul Park Won-soon and Los Angeles' Mayor Eric Garcetti signed an agreement on cooperation in disaster prevention and tourism on Monday, Seoul officials said.
According to the Yonhap News Agency, the officials said that the agreement presupposes further cooperation between the two cities in urban security, culture and transport, as well as environment.
During the ceremony of signing the deal, Seoul's mayor awarded his Los Angeles counterpart with an honorary citizenship, expressing hope that Garcetti would further facilitate the collaboration between the cities.
On November 25, the California city's mayor is expected to visit Buddhist temples and several major South Korean companies in the country's capital.
Seoul and Los Angeles signed a friendship agreement back in 2006 in order to bolster cooperation and exchange in different areas.
