Passenger from Sierra Leone Hospitalized in Brussels on Ebola Suspicion

Passenger arriving from Sierra-Leone with symptoms of Ebola was hospitalised in Brussels.

BRUSSELS, November 3 (RIA Novosti) —A passenger arriving on a flight from Sierra-Leone to Brussels was hospitalized on suspicion of being infected with the deadly Ebola virus, the test results are expected to be ready later on Monday, the Belgian Libre Belgique newspaper reported.

The Brussels Airlines flight crew noticed that one of the passengers traveling from Freetown, Sierra Leone was showing several symptoms of the infection, such as a rapid onset of fever. When the aircraft touched down in Brussels, an emergency team boarded the plane and admitted the passenger to the care of the federal healthcare service. The passenger was immediately transported to St.Peter's Hospital in Brussels for further tests and placed in quarantine. The other passengers from the flight Freetown-Brussels underwent an additional medical check-up at the airport.

According to the latest report by the World Health Organization (WHO) released on October 31, the total number of confirmed, probable and suspected cases of Ebola Virus disease currently stands at 13,567. A total of 4,951 people have died from Ebola.
