MOSCOW, October 7 (RIA Novosti) – Houthi Shiites do not agree with the appointment of Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak as the new Prime Minister of Yemen, the Houthi linked Al Masirah TV channel reported Tuesday.

The political council of the Yemeni movement Ansarullah has said it disagrees with the decision by Yemeni President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi to appoint the director of his office, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, as the new prime minister of the country.

Later the same day, top Houthi official Ali Bukaiti said that the appointed Prime Minister did not represent the will of the people.

Yemen is currently in a state of turmoil, with Houthi Shiites protesting against the incumbent government since mid-August, urging economic and political reforms.

In September, the Houthi overran Sanaa, seizing administrative and military infrastructure, and raiding the homes of government officials, including party leaders. The militants are in control of the entrances to the city, are occupying residential buildings, and using abandoned structures to store weapons and ammunition.

On Monday, Dhaifallah Shami, a member of the Houthis' Political Office told RIA Novosti that insurgents will stay in Yemen's capital Sanaa until a new government which can "provide security" is formed. The group opposes the appointment of a prime minister, who is loyal to "foreign countries", he noted.
